General Dentistry

At Corn Family Dentistry, we provide high quality dentistry to patients ages 1 to 100 years old! For your convenience, your family can visit us in Franklin or also at our Edinburgh location.

You will find that you receive one-on-one attention from Dr. Corn and treatment that is personalized to your needs. We offer a wide range of preventative, restorative, and cosmetic services designed for everyone in the family.

Dr. Corn’s extensive training allows him to offer comprehensive services that you may not find at every practice, which means that you’ll rarely be referred elsewhere for your care.

Preventative Care for the Family

Dr. Corn believes that prevention is truly the foundation for optimum oral health. With consistent six-month cleanings and checkups, we hope to help you avoid many dental issues such as periodontal (gum) disease, oral cancer, tooth decay, and cavities. We also offer options like night guards or splints to treat TMJ, or temporomandibular joint disorder, as well as chronic clenching and grinding, a problem known as bruxism.

Children should also see the dentist every six months, and Dr. Corn likes to see children for their first appointment around the age of one year old (although of course it's never too late to get started!). Our goal is to build a relationship with your child that will help them feel comfortable about their dental care and even look forward to their visits.

Periodontal Care

Did you know that your periodontal health is directly related to your overall health and well being? We now understand that the bacteria that cause gum disease are also associated with other health concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and cardiovascular disease. Gum disease is also the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults.

It is our hope that if gum disease does occur, we can help you detect it as early as possible during routine examinations. The earliest stage of gum disease, gingivitis, can often be successfully managed with a professional cleaning and improvements to your home care.

If you do find yourself facing periodontitis, the advanced stage of gum disease, Corn Family Dentistry is well equipped to help. A deep cleaning below the gum line will remove the plaque and tartar buildup causing your infection, and Dr. Corn may recommend additional treatment such as antibiotic therapy depending on your specific needs.

Since there is no cure for periodontitis, extra cleaning appointments throughout the year will help keep the disease at bay.

Restorative Care

Patients will find comprehensive restorative care at Corn Family Dentistry, whether tooth repair or replacement is needed. We use the finest dental materials and work with the top dental laboratories to ensure that any restoration you receive from us is the highest quality and also esthetically pleasing. We hope to help you achieve a healthy and beautiful smile that will last for a lifetime.

We’re confident that the individualized care and personal attention you receive at Corn Family Dentistry will make you feel right at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re visiting us for the first time for a routine six-month cleaning and checkup or you haven’t been to a dentist in years – we welcome you! We’re happy that you’ve chosen Corn Family Dentistry for your care and that you’ve taken the first steps to visit our office.

First visits typically last around 60 minutes, and Dr. Corn spends much of that time getting to know you, discussing your concerns and goals for your oral health with you, and examining your mouth and teeth. If we don’t find any concerns with gum disease, we’ll try to complete your first cleaning during that time.

For patients who’ve been away from the dentist for a while, please know that we never make judgments. We understand that life happens, and we’re glad you’re here. If it's been some time since your last cleaning, we may need additional time to complete a more thorough cleaning for you to get you back on track. In this case, your cleaning would be scheduled at your next appointment.

In either case, we’re so glad you’re our patient, and we look forward to building a relationship with you and helping you achieve optimum oral health and a beautiful smile. Welcome to Corn Family Dentistry!

X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that Dr. Corn uses to see inside and between your teeth to detect any issues that might be missed with the naked eye. Whether this is your first visit or you're here for your routine cleaning, we recommend that you have x-rays taken to help us detect any issues with tooth decay or gum disease in their earliest stages. This ensures that you can successfully treat these issues with the least invasive and costly treatment procedures.

We use digital x-rays at Corn Family Dentistry. This type of imaging emits 80% less radiation and is safer for our patients than a day spent out in the sun. Digital images are also readily available for viewing so we can offer treatment recommendations in a timelier manner. Because there are no harsh chemicals needed for developing the x-rays, they’re also much safer for the environment.

We encourage our patients to have diagnostic x-rays taken at least once per year in order to best diagnose and treat dental concerns early on. This is just one more way we can help you be proactive about your oral health. Give Corn Family Dentistry a call today to schedule your next appointment.

Preventative care is truly the best way to achieve and maintain optimum oral health. When your preventative visits such as routine cleanings and check-ups are covered at 100% with no other cost for you, there is really no reason not to utilize that benefit.

With regular six-month appointments, we hope to help you avoid many costly dental issues such as periodontal (gum) disease and tooth decay from happening in the first place. Early detection of conditions like gum disease, decay, and oral cancer allows you the best opportunity for successful early treatment with a less invasive or costly procedure.

Your team at Corn Family Dentistry is here to help you achieve your goals for your smile and maintain your oral health while providing you with an exceptional experience every time you visit. Give us a call today to schedule your next appointment!
